Sage 100 2016 Advanced: User with light manufacturing would like to create a WO for an assembly that they send out to be put together and then returned to them. They have all the parts on hand. When they're ready they just pull the components and throw them all in a box and issue a PO for $ x whatever the assembly cost is. Circuit board + Bunch of components (resistors, etc) Outside Comes back assembled (only cost added is the assembly cost and perhaps some shipping) Ideally, they'd like to start with the PO link it to the WO and have the WO complete the transaction (BOM completed/built) when the part is received back fully assembled. I'm still waiting for some of their data for testing but am wondering in advance whether anyone has tackled this and if you have any feedback on how well it worked and if there are any hidden gotchas ?

if you turn on the integration between WO and PO, individual lines on a PO can be linked to a work order. A couple of things to consider: The work order has to be released before costs from PO can be posted to the work order Costs of inventory items are posted to the work order during receipt of GOODS entry. Costs of Miscellaneous items and Miscellaneous Charges are posted to the work order during receipt of INVOICE (or when an invoice number is used in ROG) if the items are in a BOM or manually entered on the work order, you can set the issue method to automatic and the items that they sent out for assembly will be taken from stock as soon as the work order is released, (or you could do a manual issue )

Thanks! This looks like it works for their rather simple purpose. instead of having someone assemble circuit boards on-site they take the components out of their inventory and FEDEX them to a center that does the assembly and then mails completed circuit boards back along with a bill for the cost of assembly.
