Sad Day in Mudville - While meeting with other 90Minders this week (and thoroughly enjoying every minute), a long time client (11 + years) received news from their primary customer (large privately held Corp HQ'd in @ThereseLogeais neck of the woods) that after 35 years of faithfully providing high quality value, they were no longer ""big enough"" to remain a vendor. While they knew some serious shit was on the line, never in their wildest dreams did they imagine that Darth Vader would activate the Death Star. The president found out on Wednesday. Today is their last day of operation. 15 employees (and families) lives turned upside down in a heart beat. Talk about a train wreck! Yes it is ""just"" business, but for small businesses, it is also very personal! Keep this in mind as Sage continues to refine their vision of the channel!!!!!!

That sucks. That being said, its a reminder that building a business around one large customer (or vendor in our case) is a very bad long term idea

@JeffSchwenk that is so sad. What will be tragic, as if this wasn't, is their customer realizing after working with the ""big enough"" that that may also translate to ""too big and out of touch"".

*dislike* Really sorry Jeff, what a poor application of supply chain management....one the large company may regret in the long run as is generally the case in these situations. My heart goes out to the families...yeah for ""big"" business...not.

I can relate Jeff. I got a call from a client while I was at Summit to move the corporate server to his house. Last day of operations was today as well. The only thing I can say is - it sucks....
