Rolling out Sage 2018 PU 2 advanced client. This is a VMware View which was created from a master template where everything was working. The only difference is that the user accounts don't have local admin rights on their image. When trying to launch the Sage 100 client, the synchronization process starts but this error pops up: Cannot create session restart control file on client! Contact your System administrator. Essentially the Sage 100 folder and associated json files that are usually created in the user My Documents folder isn't being created. Each user does have full control to their My Documents folder so why can't the sync process continue and create that folder. I'm fairly sure that if we temporarily give each user local admin then it will work. We would then need to remove that privilege. The problem with doing that is that these images are refreshed every so often and the IT group would need to repeat these steps each time. Has anyone come across this and found a workaround?

I think you just need any local admin to open Sage once on the server after deployment before unleashing the users.

You will have to run as administrator and type in admin credentials every time there is a client update; Sage requires admin access to install the update.

Just to give some feedback on this issue. The 2 users workstations that we were testing on, had an ""App Volume"" software associated with their profile. This gives them the use of Microsoft Access and another application named Monarch. If the App Volume service is running on the workstation, the synchronization causes a conflict and doesn't complete. When I tested on other user workstations, the Sage client synchronization completed successfully. Now their IT team have to research why the App Volume doesn't allow the sync process to complete.

I have a customer using VM Ware with what I would guess is the same thing except they call them App Stacks. Very interested to hear the resolution.

I think it's the same thing. One of the IT guys used that same name to describe the product. If the IT guys figure it out I will let you know the resolution Jane.

@JohnKerr - were you able to get this resolved?

@JaneCavanaugh - I presume the client's IT group did resolve it. I will be working with them again tomorrow on a disaster recovery server install and will ask for the solution. Sorry for the delay in responding Jane.
