@RobertWood do we have the fee schedule hashed out yet for 90 Minds? I would like to propose that we invoice our existing membership base in advance of September.

Not really. Have we finished fleshing out what the membership levels are or have we decided to do away with levels?

From what I remember I think that the levels proposed by @PeterWolf work well. I would just add in the fee structure. I'll let you decide if we collect the fee immediately or after 30 days. Clearly if we're purchasing a license for Yammer/Socialcast then the fee has to be paid immediately. I would further propose we have a renewal fee -- for people who are continuously members -- as well as a higher fee for reinstatements for anyone who decides to drop and then wants to re-enter. Be happy to hash this out with you, Peter, etc some night if you like.

There is no reason we can't start charging some material amount of money. There is alot of things we could do for the good of the group if we had a material budget.

I would think that we can generate enough for what we're presently doing. If you considered a fee of $250 times 25 people that would be about $6,250. I'd like to get us onto Yammer and lock down some areas. I've also previously proposed we open up the technical area to all comers for a fee. If we were able to attract (which I think we could) 100 active VARS I think Sage would stand up and take notice as well as third party vendors. With those numbers we would be charging vendors to interact with us in a material way....

I also think it would be worth the $360 per year to add on this Paypal recurring billing module which would automatically track membership dues and payments. It's a nightmare to chase people for checks. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/ProRecurringPayments-outside

I've suggested credit card processing already. It's simple to set up. No annual fees.

Peter do you mean the SPS CC processing? When I used it I was subject to fees and they also tried to tie me to a contract and collect a cancellation fee until I spoke up. There was, as I recall, also a slightly higher fee with a monthly recurring $$ for AMEX though that might have changed.

Let me check on details. I wasn't aware of an annual charge but I could be mistaken.

If you're going to call can you see if they also offer any type of recurring billing too - such as we could setup someone to be charged every August 25 for $ xx dollars. Tx

    There's a fee for SPS.

    What about Sage Billing Boss?

http://www.billingboss.com/ Looks like it has recurring billing capability and interfaces with SPS and it says NO setup fees. :)

I just tested it -- seems like it could work. I sent you a copy of the email that it sent. We'd want to have integration to the invoice so that people could pay (or not) directly from the invoice.

Is it truly FREE. After all, this is a Sage product correct?

The billing part is. I think the hook is that they'd like you to integrate SPS from which they earn more in fees probably than they could charge you for using the software. I think they also support Paypal

So they ding you the 3% (or higher) processing fee. What are PayPal's CC rates?

I'm not sure on Paypal but I now when I looked last Paypal was higher. The problem is that I found Paypal just more convenient (maybe out of familiarity) and didn't use SPS as much so I cancelled. I also don't want to encourage clients to pay a $6,000 maintenance bill via credit card...
