  • 1.  Restricting postings to current and one future period

    Sage 100 Advanced 2016 - this option is turned on for all companies being used, but I am getting user reports that it appears to be ignored ... Has anyone seen this behavior?  I am trying to remember how exactly this works, (when it did work)... prevent users for entering improper dates or does it check and error out at update time?

    That setting controls the Accounting / Module date, not the Posting Date.

    Document Date warnings (if turned on) are just warnings.

    The only firm control is that you cannot post to a closed GL period.

    Interesting ... the reason this came up is because the re-opened the previous period and before they got it closed again, somebody else posted to the wrong period ... the perfect storm as it were...

    The only way I know to deal with that scenario is to disable posting permissions while the old period is unlocked.  (Role Maintenance / User Maintenance).
