Reseller Mergers: I am in process of merging in a smaller reseller as a formal merger defined by Sage. In this case it is an asset purchase type. The guidelines are vague at best, but I now finally was able to create the correct legal documents and notifications of Sage, and both parties have signed. Sage has now informed me that this may required 30 - 60 days. We started the process on April 1 (that was probably the problem), so it seems this may be resolved by sometime in June. I'm thinking if I do any more of these, we'll just do ROR's and be done with it.

Whatever you do rest assured it will be at Sage's pleasure. And who is to say the ROR won't suddenly start taking 30-60 days? Sage put zero thought into the impact of channel consolidations and for a while it seemed that the rules changed daily. Then other partners like Net@Work publicly started talking about what sounded a lot like a master VAR type plan (which Sage denied). But the fact that Net@Work publicly talked about such a group made me think that Sage probably blessed it on some level. Sage's attitude toward this swings in the breeze so the rules today likely won't be the rules tomorrow or the rules after the next round of executive turn overs.

The people above Regional Sales like Roger Demers and Tim Sullivan basically did bless and encourage my acquisition plans as part of our growth strategy, but the group that reviews and implements it is outside sales and apparently untouchable, similar to education. Another example of weak management and organization structure.

So what you're saying is one department doesn't know what the other is doing. Amazing. ;-)

    Don't even get me started.

@JohnHoyt For the practice we purchased last year, it did take about 30 days before Sage got customers moved over. Was like pulling teeth, and I'm not a dentist. They are of course understaffed and they had to do each record manually. SAP automation=manual Also a Hint, double check their work.

We are still getting paid M&S for some of our Sage 300 ERP clients that we transferred away last year. Sweet.

We just rolled in a smaller BusinessWorks partner a few months ago and are receiving the commissions. I remember seeing something that suggested we wouldn't anymore in merger situations. Anyone have that handy? Are Peter and I just getting lucky so far?

    Wasn't that the subscription policy?

Yes, that was only for subscription.

@BobKohlmeyer Did you go through the Asset Purchase method for your mergers?

Yes, Assett Purchase on the larger Sage 100 arrangement. On the smaller one with the BW group, we were able to do it less formally.
