Request from a customer, any suggestions of tried and true solutions? This is one of those Murphy's Law clients... Hi Michelle, Hope you had a good new year! I have a question, we're looking for a program to help us with dispatching trucks. We don't need anything fancy just something so we don't have to hand write truck summaries and possibly something track our trucks. Does Sage have anything like that or do you know of a program that's compatible with sage so we could import sales orders and invoices into the program? I hope that makes sense.

Michelle, what industry is your client in? I know of a couple that work in the Fuel/Oil distribution industry.

Michelle, I'm only aware of three options here: MSI - Service Pro Ascent - Automated Services Job Ops - Service Module Each has pro's and con's. MSI is relatively expensive; Ascent and Job Ops are programatically intrusive. I don't know if the service option in Job Ops works that way but the core system licensing requirements can get expensive in a hurry.

As long as their needs are simple, you might want to consider writing something in a user defined script, MS Access or both.

@MarcosDeLuna What is the name of the dispatch software that works with Sage 100 for the Fuel/Oil distribution industry?

This may be the one. The last I looked into it (many moons ago), their MO was to basically take over the client. Others may have more recent experiences. http://wp.dm2.com/sage/sage-100-erp/

@JeffSchwenk Not interested in DM2. I have talked to them in the past. As you mentioned, they want to provide an end to end solution.... including ending my relationship with the client. This company delivers bulk and packaged products. They have two different types of trucks that deliver each day, one type for bulk and another type for packaged products. There are 25 trucks that go out each morning. The dispatcher wants to look at two different Google maps, one for bulk trucks and one for package trucks. He wants to see all of the locations and assign each truck to delivery locations. They have gps on the trucks so he has another map that tracks the location of the truck. What they are looking for doesn't seem to be specific for the oil distribution industry. Seems like this would be a common request among companies that have route delivery.

@DougHiggs They are called Smartlogix.com (now under a parent company name skybitz). They do have an interface with DM2 that I worked with.
