  • 1.  Report Master help needed! (for those that remember Report Master)

    Posted 05-30-2023 16:39

We had a company reach out to us for Report Master help!  They have a unix version of MAS90 (version 1.x) and a windows version of MAS90 (version 2.x).  They are a heat treating company and are required, by their customers, to keep their data for a significant period of time.  On both of those versions they had a developer that customized their MAS90 instances to track their heat treatment metrics inside MAS90. However, they can't keep the servers alive any longer and need to get the data out of these older versions of MAS90.  The only way I know to get the data out of those versions (and out of custom tables) would be via Report Master.  We are unable to take on the project due to our limited resources around Report Master.  Would there be someone interested in taking on this project?  If so, let me know and I will get you in contact with this company.

Also, experience with Windows 1.0 and a copy of PC Anywhere that works via modem are strongly desired. /S

Seriously,  the issue with these types of projects is until you solve the problem, you don't know if you can solve the problem. And if you can't solve the problem, the customer doesn't think they should pay anything, including any time spent diagnosing the issue.

@Dan Isaacson - Sorta sounds like you are SOL with the gang here.  A suggestion would be to do one RM extraction for them, then show THEM how to do the rest.  Once out, you could import the data into their DB of choice.  Just my .02.  Another thought would be to sweet talk @Beth Bowers to take this gig.  I am sure there are several Disney cruises on her bucket list!

Thank you everyone for all the feedback.  Fortunately, I was able to find someone to take the project on and it only cost me this t-shirt!
