Looking for a Best Practice for removing old versions of Sage 100 from Server.  As we start the installation round for v2021, I will be actively removing versions (e.g. v2016, v2017, v2018) as part of the processing.

Is this as simple as Add/Remove programs via the control panel?  Are there any registry entries to be concerned with?  Will removing prior versions delete any files used by the current version?

    Thanks in advance.

Workstation software: should be OK to uninstall the old and repair the current version when done.
Sage Server software: don't do it.  You will break things.  If low on space, just delete the data in the old MAS90 directories.

Agree with Kevin. I just had a customer using 2016 going to 2020 who changed their mind and wanted to go to 2021. I installed 2020 and got the dreaded "nobody can get in"....

I felt like I had to uninstall 2020 but probably in retrospect I should have retained it and just installed 2021 alongside and deleted the prior data.

Just a heads up to be careful when deleting backup companies if they are a Sage 100 Payroll User.  When we moved to current versions, I didn't convert all of my yearly Payroll backup companies.  Because we haven't converted all of those YE Payroll Backup companies, I have to go back to our 2016 version to get information for ex-employees that have been gone from the company for more than just a couple of years.  And for some reason (mostly reconciling their 401k Plans), that has happened a lot this year.

For clients who have room, I've been bringing the companies over to the new version, but just not converting unless we have a need later.  And the last few clients I've done, their current company history ended up going back to 2013!  Nice.
