  • 1.  Removal of Scanco Multi-Bin from client installation

    Posted 12-11-2025 17:15

I'm looking for guidance and advice on removing the Scanco Multi-Bin product from a client that stopped using that module back in v2019, moved to v2021, then to v2023 and now are moving to v2025.  There is still so much "garbage" installed for the old Multi-Bin product and I would really like to see it all "gone" from the new v2025 version.  They also just purchased ScanForce Warehouse Automation are using their labor data collector and will be using ScanForce Multi-Bin once the upgrade is completed.  Before that all gets installed, I really want the Scanco products gone.

Has anyone done this before.  Endpoint AS has offered a 2-hour engagement to remove the obsolete module and I really don't want to pay them for this service.  Suggestions are welcome!

Scanforce is very good at doing that ,  Let them know and they will assist in removing it .

Nice.  That was my hope.  I will discuss it with my contact at ScanForce and personally, really just want all that "gone"; if anyone knows how I feel.

I went though that once years ago, where ScanForce helped copy things over when replacing ScanCo MB during an upgrade.

(I don't remember if I also had to clean up any table entries... sy0ctl.soa, SY_ClassEnhancements...).

The old fields / tables will still be there in the back-end, but I believe it becomes invisible through the normal Sage interface.  When I asked SF about it, they said they don't remove tables / fields from other developer's enhancements.

I don't have much technical to add here other than to say about two years ago I went through and did an upgrade for a Sage 100 advanced user who had a big box full of Scanco sitting in the corner of the room which they had purchased, installed but never used.

What I ended up doing is simply doing whatever I could through the standard Sage remove modules. Then I just installed the new version of Sage, migrated over, did not install any Sage. Scanco and it seemed to work. Your mileage may absolutely vary in terms of what occurs for you. And I'm just sharing what happened here so far after about a year of being live on Sage. I haven't seen any issues that I can blame on not touching Scanco beforehand other than through the regular Sage remove utilities.

I also cannot vouch for whether this particular client had MB or any more complex aspect of Scanco installed or whether they themselves may have undertaken some additional work to remove Scanco.

In this case the client was not using any WMS after the upgrade so going to SF wasn't an option.

After you follow the instructions that @Susan Pawlowic posted, if you still see them showing up on the Installed Modules listing, and you are sure that all Scanco enhancements are not being used, make backup copies of SY_Enhancement and SY_ClassEnhancment Tables. When all users are out of Sage 100, you can use DFDM to remove any of the records with developer code of 140 (Scanco) and 404 (formerly ACS Group/Scanco) in both of those two tables. that would remove them from the installed module listing and also break any links to custom programs for those records.

I usually do that during a test upgrade when the client is going to be testing before going live just to make sure nothing unexpected happens.

Thank you @David Overholt that is exactly what I was hoping for; confirmation on removing them from a few data files.  I would really like it all cleaned up before we move to ScanForce for my own satisfaction.  I have done what Sue recommended, I will give it a go.  Happy Holidays!
