Removal of CBS EBizCharge (Century Business Solutions) credit card processing

Wondering if anyone has instructions for how to remove CBS EBizCharge (Century Business Solutions) credit card processing from Sage 100.  We have a client switching to Paya but apparently we're unable to activate it in Sage due to CBS EBizCharge already being installed.

I had a customer change back to Paya about 2 years ago, and they had the same issue. I seem to remember they had to contact Century Business Solutions directly.

There really should be some rules governing the competitive cc processing vendors, so this does not happen.

Yes, it's looking like Century needs to get involved.

I had a similar experience and was working eBiz to remove the product.

However, our migration from eBizCharge back to Paya stopped completely, when the client realized that they would have to re-enter all the Credit Card data. Nothing could be exported from eBizCharge either.

Considering that our client had over 2,500 encrypted cards on file at the time with eBizCharg, any cost saving that Paya was offering was not worth the hassle of calling each end user for their CC information again.

@Michael Davis, how long ago was that?  I wonder if that's still the case re: the credit card data.

    Brett,

It has been about 1.5-2 years ago. However, I doubt it has changed due to everyone's concern about Credit Cards and PCI compliance.

We were unable to get export from eBixCharge as well as unable to import into Paya. It was going to be all manual.

    Thank you
    Michael

A client switched from Century Business Solutions to American Payment Solutions two weeks ago.  We had to have Century Business Solutions uninstall their program.  However, files were left behind.  We then had to move all files in MAS90 folder that contained _546 to another location.  The client is reentering customer credit cards as orders are placed.

Seems like a lot of folks leaving Century, what's the issue?

I have a client that has just signed up with Century.

    Should I be worried?

Is the credit card industry like the insurance industry where you might save today by switching but over time the rates increase and you have to switch again to get any savings?  In the end, is it worth the 'switching' hassle given the 'rekey of credit card numbers' requirement?

I find it to be more like the wireless industry, and a lot of shady dealers.

I've seen Sage Payments (I don't know if Paya still does) where they will without warning "reevaluate" an account after giving the account a great rate and jack it up 20 points after 90 days.  Which is why I tell my customers they need to reconcile their fees every month and stay on it.  Sage Payments had to refund thousands when one of my customers caught them raising the rates.

Century might not change the rate (at least I never caught them doing this)...but your merchant referral percentage fees may stop coming after about six months which is another point you have to stay on top of.

@Nancy Hanson - from my experience, the issue with the credit card industry is twofold, and you have hit on one of them.  Typically, the play is a "race to the lowest rate" to get the merchant to switch credit card processors.  The wannabe processor offers a lower rate to the customer.  The customer calls their existing processor and tells them about the lower rate.  The existing processor might be able to lower their rate, and if they can, they typically do.  However, if the rate is too good to be true, the customer doesn't know who to believe, and they end up switching.  They get that great low rate for a period of time (maybe), but then it creeps back up due to "unknown passthrough charges" the banks are sending to the processor due to the types of cards being used and the processor had no knowledge of it when they offered the low rate.  However, they can still show the customer that they are honoring the rate they promised by showing them where that rate is on their statement, but all of the additional charges are shown in a separate section (maybe).  Again, it depends on the processor.  The credit card industry is a nasty, cut-throat industry, and it really helps to find a company that offers a fair rate with great customer service.  I'm biased based on experience and now loyalty, but I do believe the people at APS Payments are top tier.

I just finished working with a tech from Century Business Solutions to uninstall EbizCharge.  He used DFDM to remove all the EB records from the sy_classenhancement and  sy_enhancement.  He created a folder called "00 Delete EB" and moved all files that have 546 (ie: AR_546) in the AR, SO and SY folders to the 00 Delete EB folder.  Also move all EB folders to that delete folder.  Lastly, go into System Configuration and remove the EB module.

    Mary Jo-

Did you have to also move existing saved credit card data? And, if so, how was that accomplished?

I didn't have to deal with any of that.  This was a situation where the client worked directly with Century Business Solutions without my knowledge.  I didn't know anything about it until I saw it on the installed applications listing.  They never actually used it.  All my client said was the implementation didn't go well.
