  • 1.  Reminder: Sage Added City/State/Zip fields starting with 2020.x - This May Break @CompanyAddressBlock

I had a customer modify their company maintenance fields moving city, state, zip from Address3 to separate city/state/zip ( new starting v2020.x )  this requires changing any custom forms or the company return address is suddenly missing the city/state/zip.

The standard forms are also wrong although Sage does add new formula fields for CompanyCity, CompanyState, CompanyZipCode.
What Sage doesn't do is change the CompanyAddressBlock to use the new fields.

I get why they did this ( so people who didn't move their city/state/zip would not have broken formulas )

No big deal until the day the customer decides they need/want to move their company maintenance info so that the city/state/zip are all in their proper fields.

You go into the custom forms and make the change ( pretty easy - just look through the \REPORTS folder under the MAS_XXX and modify what you find).

The problem is that you haven't really fixed the underlying issue which is STANDARD copies in the \MAS90\REPORTS are now wrong ( they don't have an updated CompanyAddressBlock ). Unless you go back and change every variation of the STANDARD forms which use a CompanyAddressBlock - you run the risk of the customer calling at some time in the future wondering why a new form they created is suddenly not showing the city/state/zip.

While the initial suggestions might be - don't do that... There could be valid reasons the customer needs to update their company maintenance. Such as if they have third-party integrations that somehow read the company maintenance fields.

It seems like what should have happened is there is a set of newly updated STANDARD forms which we could copy into the \MAS90\REPORTS as an option ( yes, I know some people edit these as well so this would not be foolproof )....

Going through and updating each and every STANDARD form that has a CompanyAddressBlock is somewhat of a time-waster.

Which brings me to my question -- has anyone already tackled this and created an updated copy of all the forms with correct CompayAddressBlock formulas so they could be copied into the MAS90\REPORTS should a customer decide to update their company maintenance city/state/zip?

Here's the Sage KB which goes into detail on the above issue

Just a thought...IF they leave the CSZ where it was (maybe move it to line 4) AND also add it into the new fields, it won't duplicate on the forms, but they would still have the fields available for whatever else they wanted.  They would just have to always exclude line 4.

Sage didn't update all the address block formulas for the MAS90\Reports files?!?  Wow.  Customized reports, I get (although I'd expect mascrcw should be able to handle the change).
They better have updating the stock reports on their "to do" list. Permanently passing this off to the customer / Partners is absolutely unacceptable.

The weird thing is that I would SWEAR I remember Elliot, maybe, saying in a presentation that "No forms have been hurt by this enhancement" - I took it to mean it would work either way, but apparently it meant they didn't touch the forms at all.  :-(

I noticed it when v2021 was released.  Thought it was interesting but didn't think much about it.  After 4.3 was released and i started modifying the standard forms, I noticed that with each release my mods were wiped out.  So I figured out a way to copy/save the standard forms to the  ..\MAS_System\Reports\... folder via report manager (now my SOP when performing new install).  My changes are safe there.  Didn't even think to look in the ...\reports folder to see if Sage had modified forms.  It didn't take long to figure out but it is tedious to change the forms.

Not a big deal to me.

In fact, with each million dollars that is taken from the Sage 100 subscription revenue line and allocated to the Intacct abyss, my expectations of saving the Sage 100 golden goose sink lower and lower.

Too bad Sage doesn't do more to support the line.
