Sage 100

Very strange - Last January client called regarding missing vendor records in IM_Alias.  There were a lot missing.  Resolved issue by restoring file from back up.  Today, client calls with same issue.  Many vendor alias numbers are missing.  I query the table into Excel.  There are only 7 vendor records in the table, all entered in the past week.  Look at the system activity log but saw nothing in past month that might shed a light on issue.

Could this be an AV issue?  I would expect the entire table to be AWOL if so.

Thoughts?  Besides migrating them to v2022???

Check the system activity log for reinitializing or rebuilding the file.  Curious if you restored an old file and then ran a rebuild key files if it would delete the records.

Overzealous AV could have wiped the file  a week ago, or...
I had a customer a few years ago decide to call Sage support, but then didn't understand the difference between rebuild and reinitialize...

If they are sure it isn't a user doing it, I'd try a PreWrite & PreDelete script to write to the Activity log... capture StartProgram (plus type, alias, item...), then wait for data.  If there is a buggy script / enhancement, that should help point you in the right direction.

I have restored the file from a copy in the past, I have manually reinitialized and imported in the past.  Many of the Vendor Alias' that are created by the use of a primary vendor are missing from my client's files.  I believe we had cleared out the file previously.  I recreated what should be all of those records by importing from the IM_ItemVendor table and all of those 35K records are now missing.

This issue existed in 2019 and 2021 for my client.  The article I found from January of last year was 2016 (maybe your client).

Interesting thought @Larry Bradford on ME AR closing.  My client runs their ME closing very promptly. The file was hosed about week three of the new month.  No SIA either.  Standard modules.  So far, no calls.  I am pressing them to upgrade to the latest and greatest just in case.  Nice to know we aren't alone.....  Starting to remind me of the X-Files.

There are unlikely temporary vendors but I cannot be sure.  The last time about 35K records disappeared.  1750 of them general and 34K Vendor records.  All of them imported.
