Here's my first attempt at creating Recommended Tags to ease Higher Logic searches. Do we want tags for vendors/Common Third-Party, like Amyuni, JobOps (OpMgmt), StarShip, ROI Insynch, etc?

    Generics
#SOLVED- Posted in the main question once the question is solved/completed/closed

    Years
    #23 = 2023
    #22
    etc...

    Editions
    #STD = Sage 100 Standard
    #ADV = Sage 100 Advanced
    #PREM / #SQL = Sage 100 Premium

    Direct Errors
    #PROGxx_yy.zzz = Erroring Program
    #ERRORxx = Error Number
    #LINExxx = Line Number
    For example, Error 65 Program IM_CommonHistoryUI.pvc Line 426 would be tagged #ERROR65, #PROGIM_COMMON_HISTORY_UI.PVC, #LINE426

    Sage Modules
    #AP = Accounts Payable
    #AR = Accounts Receivable
#BC = Mobility for Bar Code
    #BI / #BIE = Business Insights / Explorer
    #BM = Bill of Material
    #BR = Bank Reconciliation
    #CI = Common Information
    #CM or #CUSTOM = Custom Office, Customizer
    #CU or #CRM = Customer Relationship Management
    #FL or #FA = Fixed Assets
    #GL = General Ledger
    #IM = Inventory Management
    #JC = Job Cost
    #LM or #SY or #SYS – Library Master, System
    #PL or #PAPERLESS = Paperless Office
    #PM = Production Management
    #PO = Purchase Order
    #PR = Payroll 2.X
#PR1 = Legacy Payroll 1.X (pre Business Framework)
    #RA or #RMA = RMA / Return Merchandise Authorization
    #SO = Sales Order
    #VI = Visual Integrator
    #WO = Work Order
    #UDF = User-Defined Fields
    #UDS = User-Defined Scripts

    Sage add-ins / integrations
    #365 = Office 365 integration
    #BOI = Business Object Interface / Scripting
    #CC = Credit Card Processing
    #EBM = eBusiness Manager
    #sData = sData Web Service

I like the looks of this though I question how many people will actively use this many hashtags. Before investing too much time, I recommend seeing if the search for tags is better than a regular search ( within Higher Logic ).

I also wonder whether there's more bang for the buck to pulling key information out to Google Docs or MS Word. I was saving things in Google Drive results in a better search experience, as I can also look inside PDF files.

There will probably be an AI component to this type of knowledge tracking not too far in the future.

In short, break knowledge collection down to:

    1. Higher Logic ( this is the starter but not the endpoint  - the canary in the coal mine that indicates whether a particular question should be saved for future queries). If we have questions with no answers, that knowledge isn't worth much to someone five years don't the road when the conversation goes "Do you remember how this was solved", "No, IT did something"...
2 Save to Google Docs / MS Word ( or similar )
    3. Feed this to AI of choice

I fear HL as it may be difficult or impossible to maintain the content regularly ( ie, add/change/remove hashtags ). And the HL search appears subpar past the first query.

I actually think we need a team to assign designated tags as opposed to hoping all of the members tag on their own. However, it would be more effective as a group effort.  Another idea on the tagging is we can integrate a tag on posts we would like to retain content, documents, and information as well for a resource library.  We can use the google drive for this purpose as well.

Thanks so much for this Steve - it is a great start.

Striving for the 90 Minds community be the first thing members check when they wake up, and the last thing they view before logging off should be the ultimate goal.

Members who log in and post about new issues/experiences/questions they (or their customers) have encountered is 90 Minds' "kryptonite" and something none of their BPAC home offices can provide (at the same scale) on their internal Teams chats.

The group might collectively consider offering some MVP status for members who regularly post fresh content ( this is NOT the same thing as a member who regularly asks for help on a weekend upgrade ).  This MVP status could be reviewed annually, including a free or discounted pass to MOTM.

And once you have an MVP squad, you might include them in meetings with Sage since these would be the most active 90 Minds members and presumably have the most to offer in the way of feedback.

As you pull in an increasing number of contributors offering fresh new content - issues, etc - then you have a group capture that and save it separately. I suggest it be off Higher Logic and in some type of place like Google Workspace or O365.

I agree with Wayne that Higher Logic is a tool and that the objective of its use is to assist our members in getting answers to their questions faster and more accurately than they could get from other tools.  Although we have also learned that tools come and go, and knowledge it where the value lies; Higher Logic is our current tool.  Perhaps when a solution is deemed worthy we add it to a "Library" in Higher Logic?  I am not sure how user friendly the two different libraries are, but if we could keep the knowledge within one interface it would likely be easier to maintain.

It has been forever since we used social cast and had effective tags.  I would guess that the majority of our members do not even remember "the good old days" of social cast. I wish we had a list of most used tags from those days as the software is still the same.   I do not know if @Robert Wood  or Moira Goggin might have a database export we could search for tags.

The list is good and probably to voluminous as a starting point.  It appears that #HigherLogic does not require tags to be created in advance.  Is the objective to create a list of tags to retroactively apply to tags, to create a "recommended" list of tags, or to try and enforce a list of tags?   For the first two potential objectives, I agree with recommend we use the modules and direct errors.

I think it would also be good to know more about how hashtags work in Higher Logic.  Do they search in the current community, across all communities or across the whole site?

I was on the Platform committee and did the export/import so I can see if I still have a copy of the data somewhere.
I love the idea of a #BestOf or #Library tag to mark the threads as particularly helpful.
I don't think enforcing tags will ever work, but I believe the original intent of these tags was to make Higher Logic searching be more useful ("suck less").

From what I can tell, users can only create/assign tags through the UI (click or type #, then select/create Tag), which will definitely impede their usage versus allowing the user to just type it out. When testing against my initial post on this thread, it also seems like the search engine only picks up the initial publication of a comment, and not any subsequent Edits, so we'll probably need to reply to posts to tag the thread.

Experiment (please ignore): ^sData ;sData !sData &sData *sData `sData

If you don't find it quickly, Steve, I think I still have it.

I found a ZIP from January 2019 with a TAG table inside. I've cleaned it up, sorted by use, and uploaded for your enjoyment.

Apologies for the delay - as I am just back from Summit and catching up.  Here is some additional info on tagging within HL:  Tags – Higher Logic

Right now, we only really use USER-defined tags.  We can use pre-set tags only and disable user tags to keep it efficient.

It is worth sharing the report options here as well:  Tags Reports – Higher Logic
