Recommendations needed! S age 100 2014 Standard but may upgrade to premium... user is looking for ""shop management"".. They make gauges. Each gauge has a few parts, usually less than 10, with various options. They currently use BOM but would like to add time tracking, scheduling, as well as have a method of tracking made to order products through the shop. Work order comes to mind but it doesn't work with SQL if they decide they want to upgrade. They also have payroll. Work order doesn't really have scheduling or time tracking either. is there something to consider besides JobOps?

You might consider ASI Service Center. It has time tracking, service history and will update inventory for both purchased and repaired items. I have one client using it.

I looked at ASI. It looks like it is for service center / repair. i am looking more for new orders and process tracking / time tracking / scheduling.

My client uses it to process new trucks for delivery to customers. They receive the truck, add optional components including labor, then invoice in SO.

Interesting. That seems similar to what we need. I will contact ASI. Thanks Kathryn.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here. I've implemented the ASI Service Center for a few customers now. It's much more versatile than the marketing info indicates. You can use it to add costs to existing inventory items, and create additional items. You can set up unlimited Status Codes to work the order through and always know where it is in the process and what the milestone dates are. Technicians can log their time on the orders pretty easily. You'll need to evaluate it, but I also think that it will at least come close to meeting your need.

Personally, presented with those requirements; I would lead with JobOps and maybe JoScan for intricate time entry and parts issue. I too work with a few clients and ASI, and like the product. But your wish list sounds like JobOps, to me.

The issue I have with JobOps is first, I am not a reseller of JobOps and apparently Synergistics has other local Sage 100 resellers that I would have to get involved. Also, I have taken over a few accounts that had JobOps and in both cases it seemed to be a complicated, over-kill solution. We scrapped it and went a different direction. Those were different companies and every situation is different so JobOps may well be a good fit.. If JobOps is that complex that I have to rely on another Sage 100 reseller then I don;t think it is for me or my client. This situation seems to be simple, straightforward and I don;t want to over-complicate it.

@MadelineStefanou just gave me another idea. I don't have experience with JOScan, but I do with WOScan from JDB Solutions. It works with the Work Order module and adds ALL the features that are missing, including time tracking and scheduling. It's a bunch more expensive, but their scheduling piece is graphical and SO nice.
