Recently upgraded a P/O heavy client from 4.30 to 2013 SQL. Apparently in 4.30 and earlier in P/O Entry, one can enter misc items (type 5, not type 3 misc charge) and optionally enter an extended description for it. I never knew dat! They of course noticed in in 2013 (since 4.40 really) the Ext Desc button doesn't light up on a misc item. I can have them use the in-line 2048 byte comment field instead or a UDF but does anyone know of the rationale behind this design? Was it ""oh they don't need it anymore because they can use the in-line comment field now"". Does this ring any bells @RobertaFerguson , @BethBowers . This client will view this as a takeaway regardless of the workaround so any info I can arm myself with is good.

@AlnoorCassim - I pitched a fit over that when I was beta-testing 4.10 because that's when they took it away on the Sales Order side. No one could give me a good reason, and I've had numerous times that upgrading clients have also pitched their own fits. Everytime someone bitches, I want to scream ""I TOLD YOU SO"" to someone at Sage. I don't see any reason those line types couldn't work the same as a type 1, but obviously someone somewhere thought differently.

@AlnoorCassim - Too funny!!!! Since you were once one of ""them"", you have the most institutional knowledge about the irrationality of their thought process. Just another example of the narrow mindedness in existence in Irvine. Was there EVER a time when the system design team sat down together and said ""let's make the functionality consistent across all modules"" Sigh, works as designed but not as DESIRED......

I do not remember all the specifics off the top of my head (I will try to remember when my mind is quiet later tonight) but I do remember taking calls and hanging my head while trying to explain - probably to @BethBowers ! :) I sure don't remember any answer that made sense.

I also will hold the past Against @AlnoorCassim or @RobertaFerguson . I love that both of you are on the list; however, Sage gave up 2 of my favorite voices on the other end of the line when I called for support. as for the initial question; I can't add anything other than sympathetic confirmation that it was a really stupid thing to take away this functionality,
