Receiving message 'a return of goods is currently referencing this purchase order' when trying to select the PO in PO Entry. All Return of Goods files are updated and empty. Version 4.40.07. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have one or more ghost batches. Have you tried previewing the journal and telling it to show all batches? Reinitializing the batch, header and detail files may clear the message. I usually go have a look in DFDM to see if there are records in any of those files.

Rebuild the Sort Files. There's a sort file that has just the PO numbers that are currently being accessed in it, and sometimes they don't clear out properly.

Sorry....should have said this in the initial post: already tried reinitializing all appropriate files.

Rebuilt sorts, too. Maybe I missed one of the files that needs to be reinitialized. KB has an article showing which files for Receipt of Goods, but not Return of Goods.

That's the damn sort file, and I do remember now that on 4.4 I seem to have to manually edit or reinitialize the file instead of re-sorting.

By the way, if you are unable to reinitialize those files because you need to retain the existing data, you should be able to simply re-enter that Receipt # with/for the PO # being referenced, finish out the Receipt, and hit Accept - then call it back up and delete it. That should clear it out.

Just ran into this at a client. 4.40.0.7. Re-initialized data entry files and removed records from GL_CompanyActiveBatch, just like in the Resid. Ok, now nice clean data files. Next time I update a Return of Goods, same deal. I try to open the PO I posted the return against and get the message. Here's the crazy part. Possible workaround is DFDM to remove a stranded record in PO_ReceiptReturnMatRqByPo.m4t. The Engineering Status on the resid (539589) shows it as Closed-NAB! Are they kidding, or am I reading this wrong?

They've apparently changed their minds re NAB - there was a posting on the web about it and someone from Sage said they were working on a hot fix.

Glad to hear it - I was about to go ballistic.

Update: Sage will make this part of PU8. Not clear whether it will be posted as a hot fix ahead of time, but the Sage analyst offered to send it to me. By the way, the resid doesn't mention this, but I have had to go remove records from GL_CompanyActiveBatch (probably why the error gets generated to begin with?).

I didn't actually have clients having it happen on a regular basis - I just remembered from the one time it DID happen. (Because the file was the same as it used to be in previous versions, but learned that the dang rebuild sort no longer helped.)

I haven't had a chance to install the PU and test it yet.
