Yes... we asked about this at MOTM and apparently M$ owns the Amyuni print driver so they have full control over how it works. I'm betting there could be some sort of Sage programmed prompt to avoid use of PL_AdvancedOptions_UI, but Sage would have to be motivated to make it.
Most commonly the issues we see related to the registry key having permissions reset. If IT can somehow script (policy, logon scripts, powershell... anything) to ensure this registry key exists with users having full control, that might help.

Sage tech support says they wrestle with MicroSoft over the issue.
Sage City recommended KB 103205 which helped one 1 case.

One might think that after putting up with the BS for MANY years now, Sage would have a fix to end our frustrations...... This has to be top issue of the PITA stuff that we/user has to deal WEEKLY! Is there a Sage City post that addresses this? I would even look up my SC PW to add my two cents to this unworldly issue.
Short of telling people not to auto install their Windows Updates, I am unaware of any short term solutions.

I empathize, @Amber Prayfrock, and am curious about that myself.
