    I read these things and think to my self that only a tiny fraction of any of my clients are doing any of this stuff. I guess if you call gmail, or socialcast or facebook 'cloud computing' it might work, but otherwise I don't get it. I think I'm going to do a poll

    Exactly right - nobody has a great definition of what ""cloud computing"" really means. Do I have to be 100% to qualify? I use Gmail, Freshbooks, Socialcast, MailChimp. All applications that would have been desktop based 5 years ago. But I don't do ERP in the cloud because for me there's no benefit. However for a multi-site company their answer to the ERP question about benefit would probably be different.

    It's personal preference. Some of my small clients don't want the headache of maintaining servers and larger ones don't want the liability of having one of their locations hosting on-premise ERP. I began to see a shift just after hurricane Irene.
