Ran a report on IM2 and got these totals. YTD QTYSOLD = 6 million. PTD QTYSOLD = 0. QTYSOLD = 400K. This doesn't smell right. I think I should rebuild sort and key files but don't know which. I rebuilt AR History Detail&Header as well as IM2. What am I missing?

Your PTD amounts could be posted to a future period or year. Back up to a test company and then, from the test company, run a period end or year end for the current period. You may have to first change the period in IM Options from the setup menu.

Thanks. I'm concerned more by the QTYSOLD number. It seems low.

If they aren't closing periods timely, their ""buckets"" will be whacky. Also, there has been a long standing out of balance BUG between IM2 and IM3 which Sage has never been able to explain or fix.

I always trust IM3 over IM2. There's audit trail supporting IM3. And, as Kathleen pointed out, timely closing is important in keeping IM2 accurate. There is a utility to compare these two files, although I can't recall the program name at the moment.

IMZBL1: Reconciles Inventory Item Cost Detail to the Item Warehouse Detail. Used if inventory on-hand quantities are off in the system.

I don't believe that utility is available prior to 4.4 PU 9.

Customer is still on 4.3. I was trying to use the number in QTYSOLD from IM2 instead of getting the info from Invoice History

No utility recalcs those numbers in IM2. The only recalcing done in 4.3 is the QOH in IM2 vs the totals in IM3.

If you really want to track down the correct totals, you will need to dump the IM5 file, (recommend you limit to the item and warehouse in question), to an excel file. It will show you all the transactions in and out of inventory. Also recommend you work from some fixed known qty onhand point.
