Questions on the SQL version of Sage 100 - how difficult is the conversion from Providex to SQL? What issues have you encountered with the SQL version? What, if anything, doesn't work with SQL besides legacy modules?

@RonGouveia if you click the little cog icon in the upper right corner of your post, you can choose to edit or delete it if you'd like. Just an FYI.

@JaneCavanaugh we have done a couple conversion from Providex to SQL. They went FAIRLY smoothly. We did have one issue where a registration or system file was created that prevented us from reprocessing the conversion. The issue was discussed here on socialcast and the solution was provided. You can search for the entry to get more info. As you pointed out, the legacy (non-new framework) modules do not move forward. Neither does Business Insights Reporter. I'm sure there are other gotcha's lurking but so far, nothing significant. Speed has not been an issue for those we have converted (whew!) and reporting is much quicker. Don't forget to grant you end users rights in SQL to at least be db_readers if you want them to have access to the data through outside programs like BizInsights, RenovoFYI, Excel, Access, etc.

Sage Intelligence works with SQL now doesn't it? I seem to remember it didn't when the SQL version first came out.

I'm not an SI guy. @EricAnderson does SI work with Sage 100 Premium? I'm going to be stunned if it doesn't.

@ShawnSlavin - Can you give me an estimate of the time it took to convert to SQL?

@JaneCavanaugh, like @ShawnSlavin, we've done a couple providex to SQL upgrades now too and they also went fairly smoothly. The time to do the conversions wasn't significantly different than any other conversion. Depending on your comfort level with SQL server, etc. you should allow a little extra time just because it's unfamiliar territory.

If you are concerned about the time/cost I always recommend to so a test upgrade and build your final conversion cost based on that.
