  • 1.  Questions about installing PU8 to a TEST instance of v4.5 Advanced on the same server as Production instance

Test instance is a copy/paste of the MAS90 folder on the Sage server.  We run it in MAS90 mode for testing purposes for different projects.  They are on PU5, and I want to install PU8 to the TEST instance to test functionality with a 3rd party enhancement.  Since the two instances reside on the same server:
    1. Will I even be able to install PU5 into the Test instance, since it's a copy of the production system and not an install?
    2. If Yes, will the Production instance be affected by the install into the Test instance?  The PU prompts for the folder into which to install, but are there common files that will be overwritten?

For question 1, I would think you could swap the MAS90 folders for the installation then swap them back.

I was just thinking you could do the same for the common folder if concerned. It would only affect the workstation setup on the server since the other clients would not be affected.

I believe that's only needed for v2013+, where the PU installer doesn't prompt for path (but it should for v4.x).

I'm not aware of any common files that would be updated, but others here are more familiar with the older versions than I am.
