Question re: Year-End: For clients on a version

Question re: Year-End: For clients on a version prior to 4.5, will they not be able to use eFiling & Reporting (Aatrix) to print their 1099's and W-2's? Also, the ""Year End Center for Sage 100 ERP"" KB article (below) mentions, ""2015Q1 TTU and 2014 IRD are scheduled to be available by download..."". What IRD is that referring to? It was my understanding that last year was the last year Sage was providing year-end IRD's. Answer/feedback: Similar to how previous years' IRDs from Sage were technically only supported for certain versions of Sage 100, the same would now appear to apply to eFiling & Reporting. Also, apparently that 2014 IRD is for certain tax and processing/data entry updates that are necessary, and it'll only be available for 4.5+; anything prior would not be supported. o I found that a bit confusing re: the 2014 IRD because it has been expected that Sage would no longer be providing IRDs, and therefore eFiling and Reporting would be required. But I was told that IRDs in the past have included updates for tax calculations, processing, programming, etc - so that likely is what the IRD will include. The IRD may also end up including changes made to Sage 100 to better work with Aatrix (eFiling & Reporting). Also remember that eFiling & Reporting needs to be installed on each workstation that needs the functionality. It can be installed from the wkstn setup main screen. And fyi, the eFiling and Reporting function appears to have been introduced with the Sage 100 4.30 release. Important Reminders: As previously announced, the Electronic Reporting module was retired as of this year. Even though Sage will no longer be updating the standard preprinted payroll and accounts payable tax forms (W-2, 941, and 1099) and the Electronic Reporting module for all versions as of tax filing year 2014; you still have the ability to print all of these forms and many more using the Federal or State eFiling menu tasks. You will be able to print and/or electronically file W-2, 941, 1099, plus 330+ signature-ready federal and state tax forms to plain paper. There is no cost to print to plain paper. Additional fees only apply for forms/reports that are actually electronically filed by Aatrix. Note for Payroll customers: We will continue to maintain and provide Payroll Tax Table Updates (TTU) for applicable supported versions (https://partners.sagenorthamerica.com/irj/go/km/docs/sageKM/Sage%20MAS%2090%20and%20200/Assets/Sage%20100%20ERP%20Supported%20Versions.pdf). There were no tax table changes for the 4th quarter 2014 2015Q1 TTU and 2014 IRD are scheduled to be available by download the week of December 22nd for supported Sage 100 ERP versions 4.50, 2013(5.0) and 2014(5.1) Aatrix year end update is scheduled to be released (by automatic download when accessing eFiling & Reporting task within Sage 100) on December 19, 2014 for supported Sage 100 ERP versions 4.50, 2013(5.0) and 2014(5.1) https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=24210&sliceId=1&cmd=displayKC&dialogID=116022&docType=kc&isLoadPublishedVer=&stateId=116023&docTypeID=DT_Article&ViewedDocsListHelper=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelperImpl

Does anyone know if Aatrix uses their own tax schedules, or the client's? Wondering if you still have to worry about timing of printing W2s compared to the TTU.

Aatrix uses their own forms and data (PR_40 and PR_41).

So if the 2015 TTU is installed Aatrix will use the correct SS limits for 2014 on the W-2's? I wonder if you can print W-2 after the year has been closed out?

Correct. You can reprint 2014 W2s until the 2015 W2 form is downloaded.

Last year, I was able to install Aatrix on a v4.3 system as well as the TTU. Wonder if it will work again. For as much as the PR module has changed, not sure why it wouldn't..... But of course, Sage won't provide support if it goes south..

I think the tax tables continued to be installable for non-supported versions. The main issue as I remember was that IRDs checked for versions I think so if you were on an unsupported level you were stuck.

Does anyone know what file/record it looks at for version checking? Seems to me you could temporarily DFDM a record or two and trick the installer.

TTUs are not programs. I've been able to install on 3.71. No version checking. Or, just copy and replace the tax table files (*.soa).

Are you saying you can reprint W-2s after loading 2015 TTU and closing 2014? Is it because Aatrix uses it's own files? The 2015 W-2 form is not loaded until the end of 2015?

The 64K question for everyone seems to be where does the SS limit come into play. I am GUESSING that the SS limit is pulled initially from Sage and populates the Aatrix data tables. Once the initial pull is done, you do all of your editing in the Aatrix grid. So the real question is ""what does it do and when does it do it"".....

I've always operated with the understanding that you must print W-2s before doing the next year's TTU and before you close the year. I often create a prior to closing company and put in the new TTU for the first 2015 payroll and then reload the old TTU to print W-2s and then reload the new TTU when done. It would be good to know if the game has changed.

@RonGouveia You had to do that printing W2s the old way. Since Aatrix uses its own forms and data (limits, rates, etc), that's not necessary. I still make a copy of the company at year end to preserve the data for reporting purposes, purged terminated employees, etc.
