  • 1.  Question on SDATA and whether or not it's being removed from Sage 100

    Posted 10-01-2019 14:15
Below is a question from a client that wants to upgrade from Sage 2018 to 2019 and in the process switch from Greytrix GUMU CRM integration to a new Greytrix integration with Microsoft Dynamics. Does anyone know the status of Sdata?

"Ref: -SDATA configurations will be migrated or reinstalled for 2019  _ I am told that SDATA is obsolete and Sage is removing it.

Greytrix and Dynamics365 will not work if SDATA is removed from Sage. Just had a conference call with Greytrix  regarding our Dynamics365 integration.  As per them if no SDATA their product will not work. Will Sage have this package available for 2019 upgrade."

    Thanks

    Sage answered John's question here:

    https://www.sagecity.com/support_communities/sage100_erp/f/sage-100-technical-and-installation-discussions/133367/question-on-sdata-not-sure-if-this-is-the-correct-forum-but-here-goes

The Sage 100 SData provider is not being removed from Sage 100.  However; while the SData provider offered by Sage 100 will continue to be supported, it is not expected to be further invested in or enhanced by Sage. It is recommended that the use of BOI (Business Object Interface) is used for integrating with the Sage 100 product.

    Thank you,

SData hasn't been enhanced in many years.  We had an issue with date ranges six or seven years ago.  Kent Mackall finally determined it was a bug in SData, it wouldn't be fixed, and there were no plans to improve or invest in SData in the future.  I wouldn't hang my hat on SData.... You probably want to recommend using a modern .NET web service.
