  • 1.  Question on module DTR

    Posted 03-15-2025 15:43

    HI All
I have had this come up a couple of times this week and I am curious if there is a "why" to this.    If a user updates (for example) an SO Invoice batch and does not update the DTR, it will not show up when you reprint the DTR from Sales Order, only if you go to the General Ledger and run it from there.

    From a nosey consultant...

WAD!  I believe it used to be that it updated in the SO DTR, but logic changed (maybe for new framework?)

    Ya, it's not a bug, it's a feature....

A few versions back, Sage said that they had requests from the user base to NOT update postings from registers previously updated by other users. It was confusing to have someone else's GL distributions showing up on an unrelated DTR. It sort of makes sense.

    Hi Karen

Thanks - that makes sense (in a way) - at least is is an explanation.     Like I said, not a bug but a feature!

I've tried enabling the automatic update of the DTR without prompt - and users seem to dislike this change. I'm not sure why since the DTR has to be updated anyhow and there's no way to change it once you've posted an invoice register.

    HI Wayne

I generally turn this off.  I seem to recall that it does not get saved to paperless which was what the issue was for my clients.   Does anyone know anything different about this?

It definitely goes to Paperless if it's setup to do so, @Robert Osborn

It does go to Paperless as Beth mentioned (if set up properly), but I HAVE found that users are hesitant to adopt this feature.  It's frustrating to me because it seems like such a beneficial thing for non-Accounting users who don't know what they're looking at anyway.

Old habits die hard.  The feature is active here at the WHQ, but resistance to change is high out in the wild.  Once it is out there, it is not easy to correct to the non-technical user.  User is in a rock and a hard place.  To change or not to change....
