Question from Big Louie - anyone have feedback: We are trying the packing feature in shipping data entry for the first time. Noticed that the pop up box with the items is in alphabetical order and not in the order of the sales order. On large orders this would make it cumbersome. Do you know if there is any way to sort the box by sales order line number?

I have implemented a work around this at a few of my clients. Create a Crystal report to export to Excel. Enter the package number on the Excel form. Use VI to populate shipping data entry / pick / pack data.

Isn't that a setting on the Entry tab in Shipping Setup Options for Order to Display Lines? You can display by Bin Location, Item (alphabetically/numerically) or Line Number (what Big Louie wants). Or, am I in a completely different screen/task?

They say that they tried that setting and it didn't change their sort

Seeing posts like this make me realize how antiquated Sage 100 is getting. In MOST other products these days any grid is like an excel spreadsheet that can be simply sorted by clicking on the column title.

@GaryFeldman hopefully the others retain that sort setting. If I had to click on the order line field on every shipment, that to would drive me crazy.

@BrianKelly l believe Big Louie is referring to the item packing screen accessed from within shipping data entry.... Not the actual shipping data entry. Some customers such as Dicks or Bonton require packaging information that gets sent Edi.

EVEN BETTER! In SAP B1, you can set your sort order in the selection screen and it retains this setting at a user level. Furthermore you can select, sort and filter by any field available on the Sales Order using the Expanded Selection Criteria including UDFs. Then inside the grid you can again sort and filter further.

@GaryFeldman very nice...... Sage 100 refers to it as ""item Packaging Maintenance"". .. very basic implementation of pick/pack and doesn't handle any complicated packaging requirements.
