  • 1.  Quantity Committed on Lot Items

    Posted 07-20-2025 11:22

A couple of times a month the user allocates a quantity for a lot item in Shipping Data Entry, then realizes there was an issue with the order so they delete the entry.  When they try and ship the order later the lots are not available because they are committed in the IM_ItemCost table.  They contact me and I set the quantity committed field to 0 so the order can ship.

Any ideas for what is causing this?

The transaction level delete doesn't undo the line allocation sometimes.  They can either remove the allocation before deleting the invoice, or run rebuild sort files on IM afterwards.

This is one of the the reasons I suggest to Sage that it would be handy to have the capability to run rebuild sort files after hours.

The reaction I get from Sage each and every time I annoyingly ask this question...

I think John's actual reaction is "Hell, no!"

@Alnoor Cassim was working on that as a project at one point.

Alternatively to having to rebuild the IM sort files after hours:  Fix the program so the transaction level delete always removes the line allocation.  It's only been an issue for forty years so maybe Sage can make it a small priority to look into it.

Indeed - the rebuild sort files is basically a "fix all our programming errors" program....
