  • 1.  PU 2023.4 is throwing an Error: "Unhandlled Exception 0x80020009" occurs when installing an update

    V2023.2 64 bit STD installed on standalone workstation (WIN 10).  I am attempting to install PU4.  Encountering this error.

    I have followed the first two recommendations (below) with no success.  I have replaced the Pvxwin64.dll (from another installation) as well (since it is running as 64)  Sage runs without issue.  Just the PU blows.  If I have to reinstall Sage 100, I will just install v2024.

    Thoughts?

    Cause

    MAS90/Home/Pvxwin32.dll is missing

    Resolution

     CAUTION: Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.
    • Rename and Restore the ...\MAS90/Home/Pvxwin32.dll file from a recent backup
    • Reinstall Workstation Setup on the affected workstation
    • Reinstall Sage 100 to regenerate this file
    • If necessary, Contact Sage Support at 800-854-3415, to obtain a copy of this file

    If error still occurs, confirm the Sage 100 the update is being installed to is working and able to log in without error.

    have you tries logging in as admin and manually registering the dll?

    Convert to 32-bit, install the PU, then convert back to 64-bit...?

    @Kevin Moyes, good thought, but if converting to 32 (install was 64) is the solution, then Sage may have a big problem.  PU 4 installed w/o issue on my server (32 Bit)..  @Doug Higgs, I will open the session as administrator.

    Yes, I don't expect Sage does a lot of testing with this kind of thing. 

    The conversion is quick, and if it works, you've proven the issue is specifically related to 64-bit not being handled properly (instead of anything environmental)... which can be reported to Sage for them to fix.

    Sounds similar to the issue I had with the 64 bit and Sage Direct Deposit.  Once I changed to 32 and then BACK to 64, the 64 bit worked.  So it's like something isn't getting installed during the 64 bit correctly, but the utility DOES install it correctly.

    Ding Ding Ding - Give @Beth Bowers the teddy bear prize.  Her answer was spot on!!  I ran the utility to switch back to 32.   Then ran the utility to switch back to 64.  I was then able to install PU 4 for v2023.  FWIW, I installed v2024 earlier and WAS able to install PU 1 without any issues.  Perhaps it has been fixed.....

    I also sent a message to Scott Brady asking him to update the KB and also to clarify if this is an issue in v2024
