Okay, so what's the trick to get pass-through queries to show up in Crystal Report 2016's Database Expert. I have it working fine at other clients, but at this one they don't show up at all. Standard queries are in the list, just not the pass-through variety. I can't find the difference in systems. Where should I be looking? Thanks.

I don't see any issues with opening a PTQ in Crystal 2016. I see them under Views with other select queries. Have you tried to open the query in MS Access?

    Hi Bill -

+1 to Dan's reply.   I tested here with Crystal 2016 and can see data.  As Dan mentioned check to make sure you get data directly in Access first.  Maybe something is amiss there?  Also you are saving your Access in MDB format  (2002/2003 access format) correct?

    Thanks,
    Marc

Yes, the query works fine in access. It’s a accdb file, not mdb. Could that be the difference?

Are you accessing the database using the same method as used when it works?  (ODBC DSN vs. Access Excel DAO).

    Hi Bill -

You could try doing a File>>Save As and save it in Access 2002-2003 format (MDB).  Then try to see if it is in Crystal.  When I saved mine as an ACCDB file it did not appear in Crystal 2016 so that may just be the issue.

I am testing using the Access/Excel(DAO) type connection in Crystal.

    Thank you,
    Marc

    hi  -

If you need the odbc drivers for accdb databases, you can download the redistributable from this link on microsoft:

    Thank you,
    Marc

Okay. So saving the database as .mdb did the trick. Once added as Access/Excel (DAO) source, the queries were visible. Thanks everyone.
