  • 1.  Pros & Cons of using SQL Runtime for Sage 100 Premium

    1. Are there any cons to using SQL Runtime purchased from Sage aside from the restriction against using the RT in a hosted environment? I've always had customers supply their own SQL license and am not sure if there is any other difference aside from (a) price and (b) restriction on the RT version from being used in hosting
    2. What SQL Runtime is presently sold by Sage?

    The latest information I have is from 2018, when we first discovered the license limitations on the Runtime SQL (and I actually thought Sage stopped selling SQL runtime for Sage 100 after these revelations came to light). 
    Be sure to ignore any Sage first-level support answer about SQL.  I escalated (through Jennifer Warawa) and it took about a week (of Sage consulting with M$) to get some real details.

    This is what I've been using for customers who ask. (link below).
    I try to keep it updated as best I can, which is usually every time I have a customer ask a good question about some aspect of SQL.

    My experience with Sage is nearly identical.
    I had at least one customer call Sage, directly, and the customer wasn't able to obtain any useful information.

    I believe the Task Scheduler for posting journals / registers has been fixed for Premium (if that is what you mean by "Automatic Update").
