  • 1.  Production Management WT Entry Process ?

In the Work Order module when you enter the item on a new work order the steps and materials automatically come in and the revision is on the header tab.  In Production Management you have to enter a step and then on the materials tab import from BOM.  The revision has to be chosen at that point, however the revision is not on any screens that I see. My clients use BOM and the WT template is on the BOM.  I set up a test template with items on it and found you still have to enter a step and then import on the materials tab.  I have looked thru the setup to see if the step and materials will automatically come in when doing a make to stock and I do not see anything.  Am I missing the boat on this or is this the way it is?  The ScanForce make to sales order add on automatically brings the steps and materials into the work ticket.

Steps automatically come in for me when I click "Copy From" on the work ticket header and then choose either template or bill.  I don't see a way to bring steps in while importing from the Materials tab.  I could be missing a setup option, but I don't see anything that controls this.

@Michele Herzog if you have defined a BOM, and on the BOM, you have a Template, then when you create the work ticket from the BOM, it will copy in the BOM Components and the Template Steps.  You do have to do what @Susan Pawlowic mentions and "copy from".

    • # next WT Number
    • Enter Item Code
    • Enter Qty Ordered and Qty Planned
    • Click on Copy From Button on top of screen
    • The pop open window will include copying from BOM, the current revision (you could change) and if sub assemblies should be exploded or not.  You can even pick the effective date.
    • That process loads the Template Steps, and the Material from the BOM.

I don't think it displays the BOM Revision on the screen, but the ALE Lookup does include Source Bill Revision Number.
