  • 1.  Production Management w/Scanco multi-bin and pallets

    Has anyone been brave enough to do a conversion from Work Order to Production Management while also using Scanco Multi-Bin with pallets and scanning?  I'm looking for feedback on the process.  If you haven't taken the plunge but have customer(s) using older versions of these products feel free to add your name to this post so we can all suffer.... I mean learn -  together.

    I did not know that there was a Multi-Bin product from Scanco available for Production Management clients, yet?  I do not believe they have a v2019 Multi-Bin Compatible product... do they?

    It has been released and is available for download on the Scanco download page https://info.scanco.com/prod-mgmt-downloads.  I have asked them for the names of any partners who have done a conversion and they replied "Im sure we do have some partners, but with a customer like XXXXX I wouldn't trust anyones word and would recommend we install a parallel environment and test thoroughly. " - which to me means they don't have anyone.  I pressed them for names in my reply so we can collaborate and share information and haven't heard anything back yet.  We plan to install in a parallel environment but are not interested in being a solo test site that has to find all the bugs, document them excruciating detail and hope they fix them in 6 months.

    Our experiences with newly released versions of their product where pallets are involved have been painful and expensive and we don't want a repeat performance.

    Not sure how I missed that one... Maybe because it was released during our 90-day lockdown... I agree with wanting to know if it is actually working for someone before taking this on.  Let us know how it goes.

    We have a 2019 Production Management client that is implementing MB right now. We got the same run around from Scanco and "just to be safe, even though this totally isn't a beta test"  went ahead and installed it in a fully independent test environment. The first training session is today so we will see how it goes! I'll report back any suffering  learning!

    How has this implementation been going for you and the client?  I'd love to get an update and also to know if they are using pallets with the MB enhancement.  Any info you can provide would be awesome.

    We also have a client we have, in a test environment, converted from WO with Scanco Multibin to PM with Multibin 2019.  So far so good, the worse part is getting the transition from WO Scan to MFG 100 setup in a test environment....not only does Scanco charge for the test environment setup they also charge for training and the client has to buy the Scanco Manufacturing Mobility for Barcode Module.   I can't say there was no hiccups but a lot of them were addressed decently quick when we first worked thru it.

    Hi Bernie! This has been making some progress but it is the one step forward two steps back kinda deal on both the client and Scanco's side. We have not received any of the programming errors that I think Scanco was worried about and thus required the test environment. They are using license plating  - is that the same as pallets? Ron C has been doing a good job of training and rolling with all the client demands. It has been slow going but I'm sure I'll have more feedback once they actually start using it!
