  • 1.  Production Management Work Ticket Transaction Entry UDF (both on header and detail) to history table

    As we continue our adventures with Production Management we have a need to put a UDF on transaction entry for work tickets.  This works fine, but what we can't seem to figure out is how to move that UDF from the entry table to the transactionhistory table thru custom office.  Has anyone solved that riddle?

    I figure I'm going to be stuck writing a script that when they hit the accept button it takes the entry's information and write it to a UDT otherwise...I'm not really looking forward to doing that.....

    Which transactionhistory table, IM_ItermTransactionHistory or JT_TransactionHistory?
    I took a look at tables under PM in User-Defined Field and Table Maintenance and I didn't even see a "JT Transaction History" table listed however, there were these two.

    The bottom one apparently is is for JT_TransactionLotSerialHistory though.  Not sure why JT_TransactionHistory doesn't show up, under DD, it has a bus object assigned however I noticed that my install's MAS90\JT folder is missing the business object referenced.

    Also noticed that for some reason in my 2019 install, the definition for both JT_TransactionHistory and JT_TransactionLotSerialHistory share the same description. 

    Which is probably why only the latter is available in User-Defined Field and Table Maintenance.  Actually just confirmed this is the case, I added "Lot Serial" to the description and updated the table and reopened User-Defined Field and Table Maintenance and the tables are listed separately.

    Here's my MAS90\JT folder.

    However, with the tables listed separately, when to edit fields for JT_TransactionHistory, I get this message because the program is missing.

    I checked a 2020 install with PM and Scanco MB and it is also missing JT_TransactionHistory_bus.pvc under the MAS90\JT folder.

    First off David thank you, that was a lot of information basically showing what I thought which is it's probably broken in some way.....I had started a case with Sage, it's been escalated as I documented everything I saw and the use case (I mean find a module we can create UDF's in the data entry screens but can't actually save the data to history....) from the clients perspective.  I guess for now it's scripting the information to a UDT on the accept button until they come back with a work around of fix.  I'll update this thread when I have more information from Sage.

    So I got a reply back from Sage on my ticket:

    We've got a response back from ScanCo concerning this issue. Unfortunately, the capability to map UDFs to history tables in Production Management does not exist at this time. If you would like to see it added in the future, please add the request on our enhancement request site included below.

    Absolutely crazy, they even talk about the ability to use UDF's in production management as a reason to switch....what the h311 is the use of UDF's if you can't write the data you have saved to history......I mean I'm not genius but seems like this was a big miss on the scope of the project....

    Maybe THAT is why Linda Cade is rewriting the code!  She keeps saying that it is not up to Sage's specifications (didn't realize that you could release a sub spec product).  Any wagers on whether this WILL be in the new release?????
