  • 1.  Production Management: Error 88 VI_Export_ui.pvc line 1001 when running Visual Integrator Export job

    I have a new Production Management user ( Sage 100 Std v2020.2 ) where they are trying to export data from Sage using Visual Integrator.

    They get an error 88 Program VI_Export_UI Line 1001

    Sage has an error report which seems to be right on point - and claims it will be fixed in a future release.
    The Sage KB indicates: 



    Error 88 VI_Export_ui.pvc line 1001 when running Visual Integrator Export job with JT_Template and CI_ExtendedDescription linked with ExtendedDescription as the Primary Expression

    My customer isn't connecting JT_Template. He hasn't changed any of his VI export jobs.

    On the surface this sounds like a general Production Management bug.
    However I was curious if any of the production management users have run across this issue and if it is a general "VI Exports no longer work when PM is installed" type issue?

    if it ends up a dead end or too much time investigating then maybe have them use Crystal Reports to export the data.

    I would except they use AccuPOS which has a VI front end to pull in data based on VI export job name.

    Do they have multi-currency too?  I think DSD changes the VI program to allow more than 4 decimal precision... which might not be compatible with your export.

    They don’t have multi currency. Last week they added Production Management and just noticed the issue.

    There is a KB entry on this and I think it’s a known defect

    Update - 2/2/22 - this continued to be an open product defect ( Sage KB 111814 ) SAGE CASE #: 8008968847

    Error 88 VI_Export_ui.pvc line 1001 when running Visual Integrator Export job with JT_Template and CI_ExtendedDescription linked with ExtendedDescription as the Primary Expression

    Although this defect report references specific tables I believe that the defect impacts all exports from VI.

    Business Reason Customer Can't Just Use Crystal Reports: Customers uses third-party Accupos POS ( which was purchased during the brief time that it was an endorsed solution ). And Accupos uses VI EXPORT to gather data from Sage.

    Sage's latest replay to 2/1/22 inquiry by customer: 

    Don just called me back. Could be " a couple months". 🙂

    Said a Sage must put a compliance update before addressing any bug fixes. He suggested I call back in once a month. Sounds like it will come from Scanco.

    Based on my experiences with this customer who insisted they needed to use a production management type solution - I probably would not have put myself into the middle of the engagement.

    2020.4 or 2021 appear to resolve this issue.
