  • 1.  Production Management & DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin Basic

    I think I am missing something simple. Client is 2019 (610.4.0) subscription and they have Production Management and DSD/ScanForce Multi-Bin Basic. Multi-Bin is working as expected in IM, SO and PO but in Production Management it is like multi-bin isn't even installed. There is no prompt to choose bins when doing a completion or a close and when posted the quantity in IM_ItemWarehouse increases but there are no distributions to the MB tables. What am I missing? I can find some posts that MB and PM are compatible but no confirmation on what versions of Sage or MB. Is this working for anyone?

    Unfortunately, they do not function together. They are compatible, but not functional together.   I'd suggest reaching out to Steven Showalter to determine what are the options. https://www.scanforce.com/2019/06/sage-production-management-what-does-it-mean-for-scanforce/  ​

    I thought when DSD/Scanforce was announced as part of the Sage offering, Scanco announced that their MB was available at NC (ok, maybe you had to pay maintenance).  Perhaps this is the reason they exist in the sand(sage)box but ignore each other.  So confusing to say the least.  Maybe this will be discussed in the  "bonus" Road Ahead session next week.......

    Gary Lamb with ScanForce helped clear this up - Production Management does integrate with Multi-Bin, it just uses a single bin for finished goods at the warehouse level as opposed to being able to select specific bins. I filled in the WO Finished Goods Bin in Multi-Bin > Setup > Warehouse Bin Maintenance and I'm seeing bin activity now. So yay -  Shout out to ScanForce for excellent support on this project!

    So it works as SB (single bin) for finished goods?  Kinda defeats the purpose of MULTI bin when using PM, doesn't it ?

    ScanForce support is usually excellent.

    I suspect they are restricted from adding screens to PM (for true multi-bin) because of the politics of having a Sage branded module created by a 3rd party (i.e. no access to source code yet).

    Knowing the reason for the shortcomings doesn't change the fact that there are shortcomings.  Now that PM/OM is back under the Sage tech umbrella (has that ever been announced officially by Linda Cade?), maybe these issues will be resolved sometime later this decade.  After all, Sage fully supports Sage 100................

    Only the Production Management Product (PM replacement for Work Order), is moving into the hands of Sage Software for development.  Operation Management (JobOps); is staying with Scanco.  Unless you know something we don't know?  I heard they are renaming all the programs from JT to PM under this PM Umbrella.
