I did our first test conversion to Production Management from Work Order at a client site. Over 400 routings did not convert properly because they do not have a step 0000. This is a known issue with a recommendation to import a new step 0000 into each routing/template. I tried to attach to the JT tables using the ODBC driver with Excel and Access. Every time I tried to setup an ODBC link, Excel or Access would just crash and close on any JT table. When creating a work order there is an extra step of selecting if you want to copy from an existing bill of material, template or work order. While this is a nice feature, it was annoying to the client to have to do this on every work order instead of just having a default that would populate the work order automatically as it does now.
The standard conversion procedure per Scanco documentation is to convert all data to 2019, install production management, then convert work order data to production management. I did not find any documentation on the best procedure to do a final conversion since production management is already installed. I e-mailed this question to Darin at Scanco. He replied back stating all questions need to go through Sage.
I e-mailed Timothy Harfield in regards to when Production Management will be available in version 2020, hoping that some of these issues will be fixed. Timothy responded that they are still working with Scanco to get a date.
I talked to a Master Developer in regards to a possible enhancement and found out that Scanco has not provided source code as is the standard procedure with other Sage applications.
After consulting with the client, we have decided to stay with work order and re-evaluate once version 2020 is released.

We are on our second client install in a test environment. The first client was a disaster and we reverted back to WO. We are looking at Manufacturing (Oper Mgmt) as a possibility to move to. I believe with this client there were many factors why it failed. New Server (no test install), not enough permissions during the process, improper sequence of install and conversion of WO some examples. We were getting errors everywhere a WO was referenced. The current test environment I have my kid gloves on. Very methodical on the process. I converted all the data before I installed PM. There are tasks that need to be done in setup and I am getting the client to enter this information before I actually convert the WO data. I will take that information and use it when I do the final cutover. They have not tested anything yet, but are close. We will not do a WO upgrade now without a test environment.
