Customer entered a Production Entry with the incorrect produced quantity...it posted all the way, even tough there was not enough raw material of some of the components?? Isnt the system supposed to give error during posting or a warning??? How can I control that??? Since they decided not to look at the posting detail before hitting yes...

It depends on the item valuation method of the BOM components.  Sage would only prevent items from going negative for two of it's six valuation methods (lot or serial).  The other 4 valuation methods (Avg, Std, FIFO, LIFO) all will allow items to go negative.

Somebody can probably write a script that checks the component & the warehouse qty during BOM entry, but there's nothing native to Sage that's doing that automatically.

Was backflush or auto-issue used, or manual issue?  If back-flush or Auto did it over-issue the raw material or just issue the quantity available?  I think you are referring to this checkbox.  If they manually issued the quantity it probably let the raw materials go negative.

Customer is in Sage 100 Advance v2019...only using Bill of Material and not Production and/or Work Order.... Maybe moving to Production Management would be an option???

I believe you can and the on hand quantity to the detail BOM transaction entry line.  Might be an issue if multiple warehouses are involved.  If you need something more than that, perhaps a script to pop up a warning message when moving to new line.

ahh... Bill of Material Production Entry explains it.  unless Lot or Serial it will pretty much let you consume whatever you enter.  A script to do a warning as mentioned by @Jeff Schwenk or @Jim Petrie would be next best approach.
