  • 1.  Problems sending invoice emails through Microsoft 365

    Posted 10-22-2021 12:32
I have a client that has been using Microsoft 365 to to send invoice emails and has been working fine until recently when it started erroring after 15 or 20 emails. They go back and try again and the rest of the batch goes through. The number of emails sent and the number of retries needed is random. I have not yet seen the actual error message, just a screen print of the top of the error message (why Sage?).

Has anyone has experienced this type of thing with Microsoft 365 and Sage emailing?

@Kevin Moyes that sound like the problem exactly. This link in the Sage City thread describes precisely what it is happening link.
Can Sage be forced to use TLS 1.2 by updating the Windows Registry. I am asking because I have a fix that I have been implementing to disable 1.0 and 1.1 for MS Office activation, or does it require an update to Sage?

I need to check this client's Sage version. I am guessing 2018 or 2019.

My understanding is TLS 1.2 requires the Sage patch.

TL;DR Upgrade to Sage 2019 or higher.

Sage KB describing the issue here

You may be able to allow MS 365 to accept TLS 1.0 & 1.1 by doing this: (complete article here -same link as in my previous post)
    • Use PowerShell to run the Set-TransportConfig cmdlet in the Exchange Online management module:
    • Set-TransportConfig -AllowLegacyTLSClients $True
    • Configure clients to use a new endpoint: smtp-legacy.office365.com.

    It’s a nightmare.
    Then tomorrow it’s a lockfile or -30 or -40.

I think we are just setting up email relay on the server, have Sage talk to that, then have the relay talk to O365 with the proper TLS.  Set a couple up today, waiting to validate that it addresses the issue.  Also a good time to tell people to upgrade :)

Yes I’m chasing one now where a couple in the middle of a batch won’t go out via email but they will pdf. Then some don’t pdf and don’t email.

They are on 2018 so no patch. Sage said “too bad so sad” when I suggested they update the patch for earlier versions to aid customers where upgrading is difficult due to enhancements.

This is a growing problem for me. I plan to deal with it by taking a Sage case number and letting Sage take the lead.

Not a day goes by that I don’t get a paperless error case.
