Printing W2s from Period End, not e-filing. The form is pulling a number that does not exist in the PR3 record for that employee. Does anyone know if they changed where the ""old"" W2s get their info?

Check the path for company data in the company maintenance. Other than that I have no idea what you mean by ""old"" W2.

There is come calculation done in the W2 printing program - other than just pulling numbers from PR3

    As opposed to efiling W2s

If you go into Tax Summary for the employee, there is a figure in the withholding wages. If you check the PR3 file, yep, same number. Print W2s and it prints a different number.

What would it be calculating for Withholding wages? I thought the limit on FICA might be the only thing that it ""calculates"".

So far as I recall Withholding wages prints on the W2. Because this is often done on copied companies the first thing I check is Company Maintenance - Tab no 2 Preferences - Payroll Data Location. I've seen this move around when copying data

Did you check it against what is in Employee Maintenance in the tax area?

Yes. Employee Maintenance = PR3 file via DFDM. W2 number <> either.

I'm going to apologize in advance because I've made this error many times myself -- but are you DFDM and verifying the path. Sometimes if I DFDM and don't look I find the path auto defaults to a different company. I'm sure there's some reason for it but I just out of habit try to look and make sure I'm on the right path. This can be very tricky due to Sage's outdated requirement of using backup companies in payroll for just about everything.

I actually browsed to the file instead of just typing it in because I don't trust it to find the right file, either - although it usually does with the non-framework files since the company is part of the name.

Is this only one employee or all? Also, are there multi-states? Check the tax table maintenance to see if they overrode the calc steps. W-2 should be pulling from what's in the tax setup/PR3. If you change it and change it back, does that work?

Several employees, one state. Nope, changing and changing back doesn't work

Maybe I missed this but they didn't update the tax table yet, did they?

No idea, but tax table shouldn't affect Withholding wages on W2.

LET GRS_AMT=PR3[19]+NQAL_PLN+EDEP_CARE; IF GRS_AMT<0 THEN LET GRS_AMT=0 LET WTH_AMT=PR3[20]+NQAL_PLN+EDEP_CARE; IF WTH_AMT<0 THEN LET WTH_AMT=0 See above W2 program code. NQAL_PLN is in PR1 file (11) Non-Qual Plan, and Dependent Care Benefits & (12) might be a factor.

And it was, indeed the issue. I have learned something new today about W2s and that makes me a happy person. Thanks again, Lee!!!!!
