Has anyone ever customized a Sage label to print a QR code instead of the regular Azalea Code-128 style barcodes? From what I'm reading it requires a third-party plug-in for Crystal to translate the information and generate the image. Looking for recommendations or warnings on which solution to go with or any implementation gotchas. Thanks!

We had a customer do this on their own.  Basically when they installed the bar code font, there were new Additional Functions to use.  Similar to Azalea, you use a formula to transform the data, then insert the formula field into your report with the appropriate font.  Workstations needed the install too, for the font, and the print engine functions.
When that person left, the project died with them, but the formulas were still in the forms.  When we upgraded and moved servers, nobody knew where to find the installer for the font, so we had to go through and remove all those formulas (to the now non-existent functions) to stop the errors.

I have a customer that wanted to use QR codes on a Crystal form.  I asked Dan Rodriguez of ScanForce for advice, and he indicated there are some Crystal users that use this product:

    https://www.idautomation.com/barcode-components/native-crystal-reports-generator/qr-code.html

ScanForce uses Bartender to generate 2-D labels.   I looked into this product, but ultimately the end user decided to go a different direction so were never implemented it.    The free trial doesn't help much because they hide the source code.  You have to take a leap of faith and buy it before you can really determine if it will work for your application.

I've used two different methods for QR codes.
    1. Use an image added to the report with a dynamic path set to a web API that returns a QR image but this requires a constant internet connection and is subject to the API's limits. Google has one and there are several companies that host these web APIs for QR codes.
    2. If you are looking for an on-site solution and the customer is willing to pay, i recommend the one Doug linked to. It does not require a UFL or Fonts to be installed, it is a formula that you add to the report, tweak as needed and then adjust the font as needed to get the best results. Since it is added to the report as a formula, you don't have to worry about any dependencies.

Ido (developer for Visual Cut) has a product called "CUT Light" which supports QR codes... but I have not tried it so cannot comment on details.

    Not a font.
