Printing Portrait Instead of Landscape

  • 1.  Printing Portrait Instead of Landscape

v2018 - The user is reporting that the Payroll Data Entry Audit Report is printing in landscape mode and wasting paper.  I know you can't squeeze 10 lbs of potatoes into a 5 lb bag. Has anyone encountered this issue and if so, is there anything that can be done about it other than completely rearranging the Crystal form?

There's a Print Condensed box on the printing window that prints it portrait.

    But that's in 2.19, isn't it?

It's very possible it's in 2.19.  I've been diligent about keeping the few payroll users I have running the new payroll current.  My installed version is 2.19.2.

Darn.  I don't see the compressed option.  They are on 2.18.  Can I upgrade the payroll without concern as to the Sage 100 version?  They are on 6.0.3.

Yes, you can install 2.19 payroll on Sage 2018 installations.  That's what all of mine are on.

Works nicely.  Just not sure why Sage can't default it to condensed.....

I tried this hack posted some time ago, but changed the setting for print condensed setting to "Y".  For some reason, it is not working but it could be the user.....

To change the standard form, go to the MAS_System folder and open the SY_ReportOption.M4T table. Find the form code you want to change and edit the Options String field to show DB_PRINTCOMMENTS$="F" instead of "P".

I don't understand why the P/R Earnings Register now prints landscape since there's really not much info on that report.  Plus/regardless, why doesn't this report have a condensed option like the other P/R reports?  Unfortunately simply changing to Portrait via the Printer Setup button cuts off the right portion of the report, so it seems the only real option is to edit the .rpt to make it fit portrait.

Are any of the new registers/reports originally in portrait?  I tend to think the decision was made to write everything in landscape to "simplify" matters.  Then as they get push back,  they provide and option for portrait.  But you have to check the box......

Since the client does in fact need to print these 'landscape-only' reports, another option we're considering is exporting the report to Excel or Word for example using the now-present real export options (likely non-data-only to get report format) and then print in portrait from there.  Plus, if/when a future P/R release/Update contains the missing condensed checkboxes for the applicable reports, we can install that without having to fully upgrade Sage 100.
