Printers are available & then they aren't

We are upgrading a client to v2019.3 Advanced.  From the test workstation, the user printed a PR check.  All printers were available.  Check printed successfully.  Launch the check printing task again  immediately and now Deferred Printing is the only option.  Rebooted the computer.  Same steps, same results.  Can anyone explain why the printers "get lost" after a successful print?  Windows 7 workstation.  Lexmark printer on the network.

Deferred printing also shows when the workstation loses authentication for the MAS90 path (to access the report files).  Opening a Windows Explorer session (mapped drive / UNC) to renew authentication with the server sometimes fixes that issue for us.

The attached KB I've found helpful in resolving this issue.

Thanks!  I sent that KB article to their IT provider yesterday, so he still has work to do.  By the way, I just got an update that not only does Sage lose the printers, but other apps do as well, so it's definitely environmental.

The print spooler might be crashing.  Restarting it can help too.

I've seen this happen on Win 10 workstations and remote desktop servers running Windows 2016 when there isn't a default printer set. There is a Windows setting to 'let windows manage default printers' that if left on will cause issues with Sage.

I have seen reports that the May Windows 10 updates could introduce major printer headaches...

IT resolved that problem, but now there's a new one.  When printing a register, instead of going to Paperless, it pops a window prompting for a filename. What could be causing this issue?
    Register should go to PL

Barbara, check for an updated Amyuni print driver.  Windows recently updated a newer version that needs to be removed. Version should be 6.0.1.1

@Jeff Schwenk not sure exactly, but he said there was an IP address involved, which he resolved.  Also, something with the Print Spooler.

@Diana Laughner, you led me down the right path.  This Sage KB got me the rest of the way.

Paperless Office printing prompts manually for PDF location after Windows updates installed

    Products
    Sage 100

    Country
    North America

    Description

    <content></content>

When printing to Paperless Office on a workstation that had recent Windows updates, the Sage 100 PDF Converter is prompting for a path to create the PDF.

The Windows Regisry entry in HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\SOFTWARE\ for Sage 100 PDF Converter is either incomplete (missing Configurations folder, or partial entry in Jobs folder) or missing completely.

    Cause

    <content></content>

In some cases, it has been found that the Windows Registry keys being created/updated on the specific machine are incorrectly under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ for the Sage 100 PDF Converter and cause the Sage 100 PDF Converter to not function properly.

(Windows Registry keys for the Sage 100 PDF Converter should be under HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\SOFTWARE\)

    Resolution

    <content></content>

Remove updated Amyuni Printer Driver then reinstall Sage 100 PDF Converter

      NOTE:
If the Amyuni Document Conveter 600 Driver Version is 6.0.2.2 or higher proceed to Step 8. If it's 6.0.1.1 skip to 'Reinstall Sage 100 PDF Converter' section
    8. Right-Click Amyuni Document Converter 600 and select Remove Driver Package
    9. Click Delete
    10. Exit Print Management

    Reinstall Sage 100 PDF Converter

    1. Logon to Sage 100
    2. Click on File/Run
    3. Enter:PL_AdvancedOptions_UI
    4. Click on Ok
    5. Click on Install PDF Converter button
    6. Click on Ok when completed to exit setup window

Or uninstall the Windows updates that caused problem to appear.

If these do not work, it may require Windows reinstall on that affected machine.
