  • 1.  Preliminary MOTM Agenda

I was not aware that in the past the agenda had not been generally distributed prior to the start of MOTM. I believe, however, that the board at least had a copy, however preliminary and subject to change, within about 2 weeks of the event so we were aware of the general structure. Could we please have a draft early this next week?

The agenda for Sage Summit had a structure, but there were changes. That did not mislead in any way, because I was able to see what the time slots were and 90%+ of the sessions did not change. From the standpoint of an attendee to any of these events (Summit or MOTM), why would I sign up for something without having a general idea of what was being presented and when? Finally, if the events committee cannot secure final commitments by a month before the event, something is not right with the process.

I think the question I read in your post @John Hoyt is: Why hasn’t the agenda been published? Is it because the Events Committee failed or some other reason? Why does the process feel so secretive? To be fair, we are in the process of figuring out the balance between board level involvement and ED execution. And how much second guessing is the ED expected to put up with from the BOD. We lack any guidance on how much we can expect to be informed by the ED and her committee and how much we just need to move along and let the sausage get made. I think that’s part of the reason @Jerry Norman asked you to work on that document of the board / ED relationships and expectations. I’m assuming that @Moira Goggin will be sharing the agenda at the board meeting on Thursday but am only assuming that.

My inquiry is much simpler than that and more personal in terms of the schedule, but I related it to anyone who is attending that may have the need to schedule a call or something similar during the conference.

I need to schedule a short meeting on Friday, 3/1, with someone who is based in San Diego. I knew that Friday morning would not be wise since the conference is starting then, so I am doing this sometime in the afternoon. I cannot confirm a time until I know what I can potentially miss. If I was just an ordinary member, I would have just done what I want, but because I am a Board member, I need to be more responsible.
