    1. Does the Tax file edit utility exist in 2018 and later?
    2. If someone has entries that were not taxed properly in an earlier quarter, is your preference to back out and put back in the current quarter or edit the tax files in some fashion in the prior quarter?
    3. Is it true that in the new version there is no opening/posting to an earlier quarter?

    (Always looking for new options)

I ask about this at last years MOTM.  We need to email Diane Coffman and get the status.

I think the equivalent of the PR40 edit utility is supposed to be to go into Employee Maintenance, choose Tax Summary from the More in the upper right, then choose Detail from the More on that screen.

Highlight the month that needs changing.  Click on the Tax History Detail drill down icon on the right.

Choose whether it's wages or taxes that need changing (or both, but you'll have to do them separately), choose the check,  and click on the Fix icon.

With that being said, in my testing, this successfully changes the Fed and State WH Wages for W2 purposes (and I assume for 941), but does NOT change the SS or Medicare or FUTA/SUTA wages.  There is a Capped Wages screen and the numbers don't change on there, nor do they change on the W2.

When I had to change the FICA and Medicare wages in January, I had to modify the amounts in the capped wages area to get the changes on the W2s.

@Mary Jo Krueger - were you able to modify the capped wages someway other than DFDM?

Yes - through Employee Maintenance in the same area that you described above.  When you drill down into the Wages area, on the right side of the window (where you see the fix button),  the top icon is a two headed white arrow.  You need to click on that to see capped wages.  Then click the fix button.

Making fixes is a royal PITA!

Thank you both for your insight.  I am now trying to decide whether to back out the bad and enter the correct or just adjust and fix.
