  • 1.  PR Calc 941 amounts Health Plan Expense

    Sage request:

    To calculate the allocated health plan expenses, we need to know the employer portion of the health plan expense. Do most people set up the employer health care portion as an employer contribution deduction in payroll entry? We were having a discussion and not sure if most users set it up this way.

    More don't setup the Employer Contribution than do.

    I have all of my clients using payroll setup with a code to record the employer portion of health insurance.

    Those of mine that try to follow the W2 instructions do set them up, although they may just fill in a yearly figure at the end of the year.

    I think we only have one client who records the Employer's HealthCare portion as an Employer Contribution.  Because so many HealthCare plans have renewal dates of something other than January 1st, most employers think it is just too much of a hassle to keep track of (and change mid year or whenever the Plan renews) via Employer Contributions.
