PR 2.26 Release

  • 1.  PR 2.26 Release

    Posted 12-24-2025 08:47

I have a client on v2022 and one on v2021.

I am not seeing anything in the PR 2.26.0 documentation stating this release will NOT work for them.

    Thoughts?

As a developer we were told that PR 2.26 is supported on version 2022.and later.

If the client wants to do 1099 printing from Sage, then you will need to put the IRD on and that is only supported on version 2023 PU5 and later. We are upgrading clients that are on version 2022 and older (wherever possible anyway).

Wow, David!  Are you standing in line at Target to buy deeply discounted Christmas wrapping paper and candy????

    Thanks for the confirmation.

Thoughts regarding trying it for v2021?  In my mind, it "should" work for 2021 as well.  But then again, perhaps Sage put in some code to cripple it.

I'm not sure if it would work with version 2021 or not. This new PR 2.26 includes tracking changes for the Big Beautiful Bill (is that an oxymoron?).so there are probably field and table changes. Payroll is such a risky venture in general; I would try to get the client to upgrade. If there is some 3rd party enhancement that is preventing the upgrade,

Also, because this version now tracks OT and Tips for required reporting next year, it should be installed prior to the first payroll run for 2026

For anyone who has tried to install payroll 2.26 to a version earlier than Sage 100 2022 did you get a message that it would not install or did the PR 2.26 update install onto  a version 2021 or lower system?

This could be the roadblock.  This client (on 2022) also has 2021 installed.  Alas, it is not an option to install to.

OK, here is what appears when installing payroll to an unsupported Sage version.

Think out loud, wondering what may happen if I put the correct path in the destination folder.  Of course, it would be a backed up folder copy...

I've had to install this from a couple of workstations, rather than the server, and in those cases I put the correct path in and it installed OK - but those were supported versions.

When you take Payroll 2.26 and point it to the installation folder for a Sage 100 2021 or earlier version - what happens? Does it let you install? Or does it give you some type of warning about trying to install to an unsupported version of Sage 100? I'm not entirely sure that your initial image included the installation location for an existing Sage 100 2021 (or earlier) so it's hard to say what Sage Payroll 2.26 may do although my money is on an error message and it won't install.

@Jeff Schwenk were you able to get Payroll 2.26 to install to a version of Sage 100 earlier than 2021?

Sorry, my bad for not following up.  Sage is smarter than we give credit them credit for (at times).

Though I still question why unsupported GL installs when the client is current with PR.  What has changed in GL?

No can do on v2021.  On to plan "C"
