  • 1.  Positive Pay Export - Carriage Returns

    We recently sent a positive pay file to the bank for initial testing.  We received feedback from that the records were missing a carriage return at the end of each line.   How do I add a carriage return to each record of the positive pay file?

    I don't have access to Sage but I am thinking that was part of the setup options

    If it is then I am missing it somewhere.  I thought maybe there was a place ti add a UDF and then enter an ASCII code or something but not sure if that is possible.  I am hoping someone else has run into this and found a solution.

    I just did an export from ABC, and it included CRLF as expected.  Make sure nobody is opening the file in something like Excel, then re-saving... that always messes things up.

    Thanks Kevin.  That's great information.  I'll bet the customer opened the export file before transmitting it to the bank.

    Always an issue to open and resave, especially with Excel.  Happens frequently.  I tell them it is OK to open in Excel but never save.....

    Im not sure what they are doing.  They said all they do is change the extension to txt before transmitting it to the abnk however I suspect there is more to the story.

    I just generated a positive pay file from their system and open it in Notepad++ and the CR LF are their ... just like @Kevin Moyes displayed.  I also tried changing the extension to txt and the CR LF are still present.

    Looks like it is working fine.  I may have to observe how they process the file and send it to the bank.
