    • To truly listen to the Partners, which I do think has gradually gotten better but there's still room for improvement.
    • Better communication with the Partner Channel, e.g. a hot topic/item they e-mail the entire client-base about, but the Partners aren't aware until usually we hear it from a client.

    To add onto @Kevin Moyes' 2nd bullet above, I would absolutely love the ability to perform a Customer 'search' in the Sage Portal that takes less than 10-15 minutes.  So silly, and it's been like that forever!​

    @Brett Zimmerman The only search I have found that works quickly is: "Account ID" + "contains" + exact customer number.  I have no idea why this works in seconds and yet everything else is like you described.

    Company Name "contains" is usually not too bad... 5-10 seconds... even with something that produces a list of results.

    ...but my list of gripes with the Portal is not small.  The Case management interface is absolutely deplorable.  Keys are such a pain to get... (there should be a button click to produce a masreg.ini).

    I always do Company Name - contains - partial beginning name, because that's what I know off the top of my head going in. It takes about 15 minutes because I'm part of a large group. @Brian Kelly - I didn't know that, so thanks for the tip. However, that would mean that I would have to take a minute to find the customer account number in my records first. Ugh. OK, totally worth it if it will save 15 minutes of waiting. ​

    A few quick thoughts...
    • Have a line of communication above the Sage 100 product team.  It's great to hear promises and plans from the Tim / Phuong / ... level, but those roles are a revolving door, making their words meaningless the day they leave.  (I know... not going to happen... but it would be nice).
    • Sage is poor at designing their tools (Partner Portal, Partner Hub...) to be user friendly.  Get into those projects as advisors (experts representing the user community) so the systems actually work for us.
    • Development insider round-tables... keep it up!

    Two things right off hand:  Sage has made the Order Process so much harder than it has to be.  Just getting an additional User License requires a quote on SmartSheets (which typically takes a day or 2), then getting "proof" that the client really wants it by getting the client to send back the signed quote, and submitting that on SmartSheets (another couple of days).  Then following up with the Order Entry Team to make sure the Client's  Credit Card on File is still valid.  There's little communication back that the CC on file doesn't work, and indeed it seems to be our responsibility to contact the client if that is the case. Whatever margin we've made on the additional User License goes bye-bye with all of the admin time involved.

     

    Second thing is we get a lot of Sage 50 leads where we have to be the ones to tell the prospect that Sage 100 is not simply a bigger version of Sage 50, but that it is a totally different program.  The prospects are always shocked that Sage 100 is not an "upgrade" to Sage 50, because Sage told them they just need to "upgrade" their Sage 50 to Sage 100.  The prospects have it set in their minds that they just need to pay $1000 or less to expand their Sage 50.

    A partnership is a two way street.  Both parties share their ideas, communicate and collaborate in a meaningful positive way.  This isn't a partnership so can we pick another descriptive word???  Perhaps "take it or leave it" club?  Perhaps a Captain Phillips movie where the Somali pirates hijack a perfectly capable ship and repeat their mantra "I am the Captain now" and we are forced to give up everything?  But I digress.... again.

    I agree 100% with @Sue Bennett - The "Smartsheet" page is an interface from HELL!!!!!  It takes way too long to complete, the customer service two day response is unreasonable, we have to give the end user a heads up or else they will ignore it.  Just not a big fan, not sure if I ever will be.

    Far be it for me to suggest any marketing brand strategy but calling everything Sage is so confusing to everyone.  Prospects think Sage is Sage, CPA's think Sage is Sage and as Sue points out end users think migrating to a different platform is a simple matter of new keys. #2 on the bad boy/girl list is the flippant usage of the word "cloud".  Totally confusing.

    SAGE world is ridiculous! I just had a Sage 100 customer buy an integrated solution from a provider who shall remain nameless after having been told that they integrate with Sage, but found out during implementation that the integration is for Intacct. The provider's sales team was clueless. Also, how much time have how many of us spent explaining to our customers that there isn't a cloud version of 100 that they can upgrade to, or that there isn't a config option to put it in the cloud?

    I had a cold-call yesterday from someone selling currency exchange services on Sage marketplace, integrated with Intacct.  I wasted 15 minutes explaining that Sage 100 is different / not cloud / and I have no interest marketing a non-integrated 3rd party service to our customer base.  Even people in the Sage ecosystem don't know what Sage is.
