Poll: does anyone have clients who use Time Track with Payroll, but have a department for which they track time but do not pay inside Sage?

    I have a client that uses Payroll and recently implemented TimeTrack.. They have another department for which they also track time, but those checks are prepared by their CPA firm outside of Sage.  Since they are not paid using Sage, those hours remain in TT Entry and never purge. I have proposed a project to export hours for those employees and import back into the PayrollUpdateStatus value U (transferred and updated).  They can then run the hidden utility to purge the hours to TT history (thank you Nancy Hansen for her procedure posted in 90Minds some time ago).  

    The business owner responded to the project proposal with this comment:  

    "I always see these things and find it hard to believe features like this or the ability to do as your suggesting is not a standard feature. We can't be the only company Sage deals with that has  split payroll access. Let me know your thoughts and if you agree."

    My thought is that this is indeed a rare occurrence and need for Sage 100 companies that track time for all employees but only pay certain departments using Sage.  Do any of you have clients that have the "split payroll" like this one where they track time for all, but only pay some from Sage?

    No.  Why is it when you're talking about mundane stuff, your clients think they are so unique ("And I'm sure we're the only folks who do discounts on our invoices"), but when it's something weird, they think everyone else in the whole wide world SURELY must do it that same way?

    I haven't seen this type of split payroll with TimeTrack. Years ago I would see it with executive payroll where the owners wouldn't want their payroll in the main accounting system so those payroll would be run manually

    I think your explanation in the last paragraph if your question is right on point and agree with you 100%

    I get what Wayne references too, but that is what Department Security is for. 

    Barbara, this payroll is so super secret they have to keep it out of Sage 100, but they need them to clock in? LOL

    I have a client that does this! They actually pay 100% outside of Sage but need the hours recorded for job cost. I added a button script to their entry screen that says something like "update for payroll" and it goes through and sets the PayrollUpdateStatus$ to "U" so the entries can move to history.   @Beth Bowers says it right that the clients who think they are simple are the most complex ever!

    Yes, but if they pay 100% outside of Sage, you really shouldn't have to mark them as updated in the new version - just turn off Payroll/TimeTrack integration (but leave on JC/TimeTrack integration) and they should go to history as soon as updated to Job Cost.  It's the non-100% that causes issues.  (Although a VI job would fix it.)
