  • 1.  PO Fields marked as ReadOnly in the dictionary (V/I)

    Posted 08-07-2019 16:51
We have a client wanting to import into Purchase Order but there are certain fields that are not available for import, such as P/O Detail UnitOfMeasureConvFactor.  Can anyone recall the Sage design and functionality reason on not allowing these fields to be available for import? Was it an oversight or was there a valid reason on why they didn't allow them?

    Thank you in advance!

I don't think they are available to manually change, either, so it would be in keeping with that.

@Beth Bowers - Where might the unit of measure conversion maintenance under CI setup come into play here?

It will pull in the appropriate conversion, based either on the Purchase U of M or, if you're using the Unit of Measure Conversion file, the conversion factor there.

We can open up the field for them but the client specifically wants to know the reason behind it, especially because it is available in the Sales Order module.  I am reaching out to Sage Engineers, as well, but wanted to see if anyone can recall the logic or reasoning for this so I can pass the information back to the client.

With a UoM project in the past I recall changing UoM after quantity is set will recalculate quantity and unit $'s (according to the conversion rate).  If you open up that field for editing, be sure of the quantities and $ amounts.
We usually set up the conversion rates and let the business objects work normally.
"Case" size can differ item by item so using a naming convention like "C12" = case of 12, "C24" = case of 24... allows UoM conversion maintenance settings to work for multiple items.
